We’re Moving!

Hey all. I know it’s been a while since I properly blogged, but that is because I a moving A Unique World back to where it belongs… with Street Meets Style.

I know that Street Meets Style was born from A Unique World, but now that SMS has become a household name I just feel that I couldn’t abandon it. But I feel like SMS is the end product of the journey A Unique World and I am proud to see how it turned out.

So no, this isn’t the end of A Unique World, but it’s a new beginning and a new perspective of my world will be seen through Street Meets Style.

I want to thank all my readers for being so loyal, and to just let you know that if you still like my blog you can join me in the transition to the “updated” A Unique World.

A Prayer For Accomplishment

Today’s Prayer

Dear Lord,

I pray that You will give me the insight as to how to use the tools You have given me–whether spiritual gifts, talents, skills, work place or other–as a ministry in daily life.

I don’t just want to work, take care of my self and my family, my dwelling place, and participate in church life, I want to actually have a mind of ministry to do Your will and impact lives for You.

May You move and minister through my life to accomplish Your purpose.

Thank You.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

A Prayer About Plans

Sunshine in Greece

Today’s Prayer

God,

When I remember the story of Joseph’s life,

I realize how you want so much more for me than I could ever dream of.

I also see how you can turn what man means for evil into what you mean for good.

Please bring this to my mind whenever I’m feeling doubt and confusion;

whenever I’m feeling oppressed and alone;

whenever I’m feeling unjustly treated;

whenever I think that I don’t have something I need.

I know that you are in control.

I pray that I will always allow you to do your work and that I will not interfere in your plans for me.

Please give me strength and fill me with your desires for me.

Thank you,

loving Father.

In Jesus’ name,

amen.

Divine Appointments

Standard

Today’s Prayer

Dear God,

Open my eyes that I may see every divine appointment You prepare for me.

May I study Your Word and spend time in prayer and fellowship with You and take time to be still and know You, so that I will be aware and prepared for those special opportunities and appointments that come to me.

Please forgive me for my failure to be consistent.

Help me to grow in faith and goodness as I seek Your face and live each day…and to grasp every opportunity to work for Your kingdom.

Thank you,

in Jesus’ name.

Amen.

The Ultimate Fact’s…

Standard

It will take just 37 seconds to read this and change your thinking..

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room.

One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an
hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from
his lungs.

His bed was next to the room’s only window.

The other man had to spend all his time flat on
his back.

The men talked for hours on end.

They spoke of their wives and families, their
homes, their jobs, their involvement in the
military service, where they had been on
vacation..

Every afternoon, when the man in the bed by the
window could sit up, he would pass the time by
describing to his roommate all the things he could
see outside the window.

The man in the other bed began to live for those
one hour periods where his world would be
broadened and enlivened by all the activity and
colour of the world outside.

The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake.Ducks and swans played on the water while
children sailed their model boats. Young lovers
walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every colour
and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen
in the distance.

As the man by the window described all this in
exquisite details, the man on the other side of
the room would close his eyes and imagine this
picturesque scene.

One warm afternoon, the man by the window
described a parade passing by.

Although the other man could not hear the band -
he could see it in his mind’s eye as the
gentleman by the window portrayed it with
descriptive words.

Days, weeks and months passed.
One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring
water for their baths only to find the lifeless body
of the man by the window, who had died
peacefully in his sleep.

She was saddened and called the hospital
attendants to take the body away.

As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man
asked if he could be moved next to the window.
The nurse was happy to make the switch, and
after making sure he was comfortable, she left
him alone.

Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one
elbow to take his first look at the real world
outside.
He strained to slowly turn to look out the window
besides the bed.

It faced a blank wall.

The man asked the nurse what could have
compelled his deceased roommate who had
described such wonderful things outside this
window.

The nurse responded that the man was blind and
could not even see the wall.

She said, ‘Perhaps he just wanted to encourage
you.’

Epilogue:
There is tremendous happiness in making others
happy, despite our own situations.
Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness
when shared, is doubled.
If you want to feel rich, just count all the things
you have that money can’t buy.
‘Today is a gift, that is why it is called The
Present .’

pass it on.

change a life too

A Prayer About Friendship

Standard

Dear God,

Do other people see me as a faithful friend or a burdensome buddy?

I pray that I will be the kind of person that other people love and appreciate; not a person that others want to avoid.

And I pray that I will be a good friend to others.

“A man that hath friends must show himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother” (Proverbs 18:24).

Help me to improve my friendship skills…and to be an example of your love in all I do.

Thank you, God.

In Jesus’ name I pray and give you praise, amen.

A Prayer For Discernment

Standard

Today’s Prayer
“Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour” (1 Pet. 5:8).

Dear Lord, I am so aware of how Satan picks at me and tries to trip me all the time.

I know there are spiritual dangers around me.

Please help me to remain alert and to be under the Holy Spirit’s control at all times.

I want to draw near to You, so the devil will flee.

Please protect my family and me from harm and evil.

Thank You for Your love, concern, and protection.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

Praying Hands

I felt impressed to share this prayer with you all. My peers at college are busy watching the new film “Evil Dead” and I decided that I was going to check my emails so that I didn’t have to watch it.

As I was reading I came across an email that I hadn’t yet read. The prayer seemed so perfect for me right now as I have been praying during this movie.

I can hear everything that is going on in the film and can see how intrigued my peers are, but I can see the Lord and would rather commune with Him than stray into the devils territory.

Praise be to God, who loves me and will always protect me even when it seems that I am in a difficult situation that may test my relationship with Him.

A different perspective on darkness

Well, when you put it as Galileo did you almost look forward to the darkness!

We are able to see the stars when we focus on the light. The darker it is, the more the spots of light stand out! Some people look into a dark sky and see a blanket of blackness; while others are connecting dots and creating meaning. Which person are you?

How does this apply to our everyday life? In our relationships, work environments and even eating habits, we will have our fair share of darkness and seemingly hopeless moments.

Those moments where you feel like the more you communicate the further you get from a mutual understanding. The times where your efforts at work seem like a drop in the bucket and no one cares, appreciates or recognizes your contributions. Or the week you ate fast, convenient, highly processed, full of junk food and now…
