8 Steps To Healthy Nails


  1. Eat right. Choose foods that are healthy and as close to natural as possible. Remember what goes inside affects the outside! Vary the type of fruit and vegetables you eat.
  2. Drink plenty of pure water daily. At least 6 glasses to keep your skin hydrated inside and out.
  3. Get the right amount of sleep your body needs – at least 6-8 hours. (For women 6 hours is enough, but for men aim for 8 hours.
  4. When being exposed to the elements, make sure you wear sunscreen and’or protective clothing to avoid over exposing your skin. Remember today’s suntan is tomorrow’s ageing skin!
  5. Avoid extreme temperatures and harsh chemicals/detergents. Wash with mild cleansers instead. Your skin naturally gets rid of toxins and wastes through sweat and sebaceous glands, so no other unnatural chemicals needs to assist.
  6. Protect your hands with moisturising creams, sunscreen or appropriate gloves when your hands are exposed to abrasive or environmental elements.
  7. Before going to bed, rub your hands and nails with cream or petroleum jelly, massaging around your cuticles to stimulate growth. Once done, cover your hands with a pair of cotton gloves. Leave the gloves on overnight, allow the heat of our hands to work around the moisturiser to provide a ‘hot-oil’  style treatment.
  8. Exercise. When faced with repetitive tasks, take time out to stretch and wriggle your fingers, wrists, hands and arms to maintain a normal range of movement.
